Verlin was born on September 17, 1940, in Ball Creek, Tennessee. He worked as a custodian for Hall's 'Hollywood' Restaurant. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, time at the lake, and working in his flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all though, he will be remembered for the love of his family and the time they spent together. Surviving family include his children, Barry, Dora, Patricia, and Bob; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, Jay Hood. As well as many dear friends whom he considered family. He was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Bonny Gray; father, John L. Gray; mother, Lou Hood; stepmother, Clara Gray; and son, Vance Gray. A private service for family and friends will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bud's memory may be made to the Indiana Nongame Wildlife Fund. Condolences and memories can be left online at www.sloanandsonsfuneralhome.com
