Vernon "Junior" Leon Pilkinton, age 71, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025. He was born March 24, 1954, to the late Vernon L. and Laquietta J. (née Blankenship) Moffett. Junior attended North Side High School, Class of '72 and proudly served in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, Junior began his career in residential and commercial construction prior to his retirement in 1999.
Junior enjoyed woodworking, cheering on the Washington Redskins, and watching NASCAR. Stoic, and often stubborn, Junior had a heart of gold and cherished time spent with his family the most.
He is survived by his daughter, Alice (Ron) Timm; grandchildren, Blaine Pilkinton, Taylor (Tiffanie) Capps, Jaycen Thompson, James Thompson, Corbin Thompson, Nyssa (Drew Cripe) Timm, Chelsey Chronister, and Sydney Timm; great-grandchildren, Riah, Addi, Declan, Zayda, Zacora, A.J., Jadence, Ainslee, and Ambrose; siblings, Sandra Pilkinton-Hunley, Roger (Armelyn) Moffett, Don (Cindy) Pilkinton, Ronnie Pilkinton, Nancy Pilkinton, Debbie Pilkinton-Cox, Gene (Alicia) Blankenship; several nieces and nephews; and former wife, JoAnn Byrd. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jay Hunley.
Friends and family will be received 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday, July 13, 2025, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
