Vicki Sue Smuts

Vicki Sue Smuts, age 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025. She was born on October 17, 1943 in Jay County to the late Forrest Ivan and Betty L. (née Brunson) Brubaker-Smuts. Vicki graduated from Poling High School, Class of '61 and lettered in music and band. Following graduation, she attended Fort Wayne Business College and studied comptometery and worked for various financial institutions over the years. Vicki operated her own daycare for fifteen years and would proudly retire from Parkview Health where she served in Environmental Services.

She wed the love of her life, Lynn "Scotty" Smuts, on July 1, 1978 at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne. Vicki had many hobbies and interests over the years, including ceramics, was an avid collector of all things Disney, Coca-Cola, and pigs, rooting on the Fort Wayne Tincaps and Snider Athletics, attending "The Phil" concerts, outdoor life and camping, travel, and time spent in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Vicki is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Scotty; children, Susan (Kevin Bruck) Augsburger, Clyde (Trish) Augsburger, Bradley (Jayne) Smuts, and Brian Smuts; grandchildren, Megan (Jonathan Pierce) Zimmerman, Aubrey (Cody Schaefer) Zimmerman, Jordan (Stephanie Sfara) Smuts, Brittany (Seth) Cowley, Elizabeth (Kevin) Schmitt, and Malcom Augsburger; great-grandchildren, Nora, Harrison and Crosby Cowley; sister, Barbara Myers; and fur babies, Zero and Roxy.

She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, David Augsburger and Christopher Augsburger; and brother-in-law, True Myers.

Funeral Service is 2:00 PM, Friday, March 14, 2025 at D.O. McComb & Son Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will also be received 4:30 - 7:30 PM on Thursday, March 13 at the funeral home. Interment at Hoverstock Cemetery, Zanesville, Indiana.
