

Virginia L. Watkins, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Lincolnshire Place Assisted Living Facility. Born on December 3, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Virginia was celebrated for her intellect, graduating as Salutatorian from South Side High School and later joining Mensa International.
Virginia began her career at General Electric before dedicating herself to raising her four children. She later returned to work, starting in clerical roles at Commercial Services and becoming a Trust Assistant at Fort Wayne National Bank in 1971. In 1978, she joined Lincoln National Life Insurance Company as a Corporate Plan Services Specialist, eventually advancing to Analyst and Consultant. In 1987, Virginia continued her career at Buck Consultants as a Benefits Administrator and later Senior Benefits Administrator. She retired in 1992, enjoying her winters with her husband as a snowbird in Florida.
A lover of travel, square dancing, reading, and family genealogy research, Virginia was also a Daughter of the American Revolution and gave of her time helping others by preparing taxes, delivering meals on wheels, and volunteering for Matthew 25 Ministries. On Sundays, she attended services and Bible studies at The Chapel.
She was preceded in death (2021) by her husband, Raymond R. Watkins, and her parents, Eldon James Vosburgh and Ida Margaret (Richardson) Vosburgh. Virginia is survived by her children: Michael (Gail) Watkins, Dennis Watkins, Cynthia (James) Feasel, and Eric (Jackie) Watkins; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on January 10, 2025 at 1:30 p.m., at D.O. McCombs & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne, with visitation two hours prior. Committal and Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
