

WILBUR "BILL" WAYNE SHAFFER, 93, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Bethlehem Woods Rehab Center. Born in Fort Wayne, Bill was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran. He worked with General Electric for 42 years, retiring in 1984. Bill belonged to GE's Elex, and Quarter Century Club and was also part of Glacier Ridge Lions Club. He was an active member of Anthony Wayne First Church of God. He belonged to their choir and held many positions within the church. He enjoyed playing harmonica, golfing, gardening, working with his hands, and volunteering for projects within the community and church. Bill and his wife enjoyed going to their grandchildren's schooling events and traveling to Florida during the winter time for many years. Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Kammeyer of Woodburn; granddaughter, Meagan (Calvin Jr.) Kammeyer-Yates; grandson, Eric (Whitney Wiley) Kammeyer; and great-grandchildren, Malakai, Gunner, and Delaney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Bessie Shaffer; wife, Mildred Shaffer; and siblings, Raymond, Dean, and Ralph Shaffer, Martha Stolte, Cleo Ream, and Zelma Allmandinger. Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Jerry Blanchard officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
