

David was married to Joan Pope Bryant on June 26, 1954 while he was a student at MSOE. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician and was honorably discharged in 1952. David went on to obtain his Bachelor's Degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering in December of 1955. In 1965, he got his Master's Degree in Engineering from Purdue University.
David and his wife enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, even taking a pop-up camper to Alaska in 1998. They took many trips with the Rhode Scholar Program. David worked at Magnavox and retired as the Vice President Director of Product Engineering in 1993 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Toast Masters for a number of years.
In his spare time, David enjoyed gardening, bread making and woodworking, having made his grandchildren Christmas ornaments for many years. He and his wife made their own Christmas cards using the silk screening process, and people always looked forward to their Christmas gifts of homemade peanut brittle.
David enjoyed going backpacking with two of his sons, daughter-in-law and his grandchildren in Colorado. His granddaughters taught him about Colorado wildflowers and would quiz him on them. David enjoyed being a grandpa. He was a Webelos leader and Boy Scoutmaster, having taught his Webelos members woodworking and helping them to earn their woodworking badge. Summer Boy Scout trips were something he was very involved with through the years.
He taught adult Sunday School for many years and was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church.
David is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan Bryant; children, Ann (Keith Everett) Bryant, Jim (Sharla) Bryant, Craig (Joyce) Bryant and Mark (Terrie) Bryant; grandchildren, Scott Everett, Jocelyn, Janessa, Juliette, Grace, and Dominic Bryant. He was preceded in death by his step-mothers, Bertha Chambers and Jessie Massey; siblings, Alta Brothers, Aline Alverson, Franklin Bryant, Jane Wood, and Benny Bryant; and step-brother, Alton Massey.
A funeral service to honor David's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church, 6600 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. A calling will also be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. He will be laid to rest at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
Memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to Greater Fort Wayne Campus Ministry or Faith Baptist Church.
