William Leon Edwards

A kind, compassionate man, Bill lived his life faithfully on the path God laid out before him. He was a member of the 3rd Street Church of God. In 1958, Bill married the love of his life, Maxine, at Shepherdsville Church of God. They later renewed their vows in 2011. Together, the two spent many years creating a loving legacy and unforgettable memories. He was a devoted papa, who loved his grandchildren fiercely. Beyond all else, Bill treasured his family.

He was an ordained minister for many years, ministering at a handful of churches throughout that time, especially Ireland Road Church of God for more than ten years. In his free time, he loved sports. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and softball. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling with his wife.

Surviving Bill are his wife, Maxine Edwards; sons, Max (Annie) Edwards and Monty (Julie) Edwards; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Edwards, Brenda Cook, Alvina Eldridge, Marsha Sloan, Cindy Cash, and Gina Lakes; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ardella Bratcher, Wendy Slater, Ann Wells, Jerry Wayne Edwards, and Terry Lee Edwards.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Bill’s honor may be made out to the 3rd Street Church of God.
