William “Terry” Edward Hammons Jr., 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. William had multiple complications and succumbed to heart failure. He was born May 23, 1938, in Gary, Indiana, son of the late William Sr. and Mary Hammons.
He was the husband of the late Katie Hammons. He was married to Katie for 63 years until her passing. He is the father of William Hammons III, who passed away in 2022. He is survived by sons, Douglas (Doretha Ballard) Hammons, and James (Debbie) Hammons, as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. William served in the Army for 4 years from 1956 -1959. He served 3 years in France. William worked for Joslyn Steel and Slater Steel for 36 years.
Funeral Service is at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with public visitation from 11:00 A.M., until the time of service.
Entombment will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
