William Thomas Phillips

William “Bill” Phillips, 85, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by his family and friends. Bill was born on June 12, 1941, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Bill attended North Side High School and later continued his education at Ivy Tech. He worked at Lincoln Manufacturing and later at Fort Wayne Community Schools, where he retired from. Bill was a devoted Lutheran whose faith was an important part of his life. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where his faith and connection to his church community were meaningful parts of his life. Bill treasured his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with the people he loved. He especially enjoyed playing cards, where many good times, laughter, stories, and memories were shared. He had a great sense of humor and a way of bringing laughter and lightheartedness to those around him. And, of course, Bill was always happy to have a cold Pepsi in hand. Bill married the love of his life, Julia “Judy”, on July 1, 1967. They shared many years together until Judy’s passing in 1985. Bill carried her memory with him throughout the years.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly and Jennifer; granddaughter Samantha; grandson Kaiden; and great-grandson Jaelin. Bill is also survived by his sisters Nancy (Earl), Janet, Linda, Shirley (Tom), Aimee (Doug), and JaNae; his brothers David (Millie), Daniel (Margo), and Steven. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will cherish their memories of him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy; his parents, William and Eileen; his sisters Patricia and Cheryl; and his brothers Dennis, Dale, and Larry.

Bill will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He brought laughter, kindness, and friendship into the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and memories he gave to his family and friends will live on for many years to come.

A Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 4:00 pm with visitation starting at 1:00pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, 46805.
