Yvonne Annette Otis

Yvonne Annette (Headley) Otis, was born on February 9, 1938 in Hicksville, Ohio. She graduated from Hicksville High School in 1955, and studied Nursing at Lima Memorial Hospital 1955-56. Yvonne married Harold R. Otis on October 13, 1956 in Defiance, Ohio, and they had three children and two grandchildren; daughter, Jana Otis Cook of Lincoln City, Oregon, son, Gregory H. Otis of Huntington, son, William A. (Jeanne) Otis of Fort Wayne, grandson, Michael D. Cook of Lincoln City, Oregon, and granddaughter, Mindy S. (Scott) Mathis of Napa, California. Yvonne was a loving and dedicated homemaker. When Jana and Gregory were older, she worked for the Sears catalog department, Lutheran Hospital warehouse supplies, and Montgomery Ward. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and growing plants and flowers. Most of all, Yvonne loved children. In addition to her own, she also took care of nieces and nephews, and the children of several friends. Yvonne volunteered in the church nursery and taught children's Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Jessie Merle Headley and Ruth (Uhrick) Reader. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 West Main St., Fort Wayne. Please gather at the front gate at 1:45 pm so all family and friends can process to the graveside together. Reverend Nanci Rosinski will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erin’s House, 5670 YMCA Park Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835.
