Zachary Brian Gilbert

Zachary Brian Gilbert, 25, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Born on July 23, 1997, in Fort Wayne, he was a 2016 graduate of Snider High School. Zach was an avid online gamer and streamer under his gamer tag "Phatboy64" where he and friends would play games all day and night. Zach also enjoyed MDA summer camp where he met a bunch of friends with muscular dystrophy like him and attended camp from age 10 to 18. Zach enjoyed advocating and raising awareness as an ambassador for MDA, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, by visiting fire stations, local businesses and most importantly, being part of Team Gilbert where we raised money and awareness through events over the years.

Ultimately, Zach’s favorite thing was sitting around with family just talking, joking, arguing or playing cards against humanity, and with his dark sense of humor he always had amazing answers. Zach was our hero in our life and continued to be others hero by being an organ donor for the Indiana Donor Network where he hopes to continue helping others. Zach will be missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his parents, Brian “BJ” and Shannon L. (Brooks) Gilbert Jr; sister, Madelyn Gilbert; brother, Mason Gilbert; grandparents, Nancy (John) Talarico, Ken (Kathy) Brooks, Brian (Londa) Gilbert, and Darlene Reavis; aunts and uncles, Heather MacGregor, Cody Talarico, Nick (Tiffany) Gilbert, Eilene Elzein, Mo (Taylor) Elzein, Zayna Elzein, and Breana (Cam) Mason; as well as numerous cousins, family, and friends.

A Celebration of Zachary’s Life will be at 1:30 pm, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, June 16, 2023, at the funeral home.
