February 10, 1929 – October 4, 2021
Amelia Louise Hansen went to be with the Lord, Monday, October 4, 2021. She was 92 years old. Amelia was born February 10, 1929, in Knickerbocker, Texas to Stark and Beulah Reynolds. She graduated from Paschal High School in 1947 and on January 29, 1947, one week after graduation, she married the love of her life, Eric Hansen, and they were married for over 62 years before his passing in 2009.
Amelia never worked outside the home until all her children were grown because her dream in life was to be a homemaker. Her whole life revolved around making the lives of her husband and children special and happy. She was an excellent seamstress and made clothes for the entire family including a sports jacket for her husband and wedding dresses for her daughters. Every morning she would be the first one up so that she could read her Bible and pray before starting the day. She was a prayer warrior and was often sought out by people to pray for them. As a young married couple, she and her husband Eric taught the youth group at Berry Street Baptist Church, where they influenced the lives of many young teenagers, some that they remained close to for the rest of their lives. She was always involved in some capacity at church whether it was teaching a Sunday School class, Vacation Bible School, praying for people, or singing. In the 1950’s, she and her husband began singing in a gospel quartet called “The Gospel Echoes.” The quartet sang and ministered in their church, revivals, traveling to other churches, and at retirement homes, well into the 1990’s. Because of their ministry, souls were saved, and lives were changed. She was loved and will be missed by her family and the many other people that she influenced through her ministry of song and prayer.
Amelia was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Hansen, her sisters, Georgia Moore, Lou Stolte, and Alleen Clark; her brother, Marvin Ford; and her son-in-law Bob Shelton.
She is survived by daughters Jennifer Bedwell and husband Richard, Marilyn Shelton, Leah Williamson and husband Greg, 11 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
Amelia will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Cemetery, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134 on Monday, October 11th. Services will be held at 11:00 am at Laurel Land Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment immediately following.
