Andrew was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 31, 1933 to Mother Susie Mae Hopson. He was raised by her grandfather, Mishie Hopson and her loving aunt, Pereen Sanford. He was an Honor Student at A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham and enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served from 1952-1972. During his career in the Military, he was an Air Police Investigator, a Security Guard for the Presidential aircraft, Air Force One, and was assigned to secure U-2 aircrafts around the world. He was also a Security Police Instructor and retired as Master Sergeant.
Andrew loved his family. He adore his wife, Lucille, and enjoyed traveling the world with her. He spoiled his dogs and was often seen riding around town with them. He loved jokes, funny or not. He was fond of gadgets and had the latest and greatest of them. He was also devoted to his church and accepted Christ at an early age. Andrew was disciplined, orderly, and wise.
Andrew received hi B.S. in Criminal Justice from Texas Wesleyan College in 1981. Prior to that, he received an A.A. in Criminal Justice from TCJC. He trained as a U.S. Sky Marshall in Fort Dix, NJ and completed the Dallas Police Departments' Police Academy Combat Prepardness Course. Andrew was an Inspector for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission from 1972-1976. It was dring a work assignment there that he met and married the Love of his life, Lucille Presswood. He was a Tarrant County Probation Officer from 1976-1986 when he retired as a Parole Office for the State of Texas. Andrew was a dedicated member of the Forest Hill Church of Christ where he regularly attended the Men's Bible Study classes. He was a former member for the Ambassadors and member of the American Legion, Post 838.
Preceding Andrew in death is: his loving wife Lucille Presswood; daughter, Patricia Harris; mother, Susie Hardwick; grandfather, Mishie Hopson; aunt, Pereen Sanford; aunts, Gertude Brown and Glennie Cook; uncles, Sammy Brown and Garfield Hopson; and step father, Jimmy Hardwick, Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his children, Michael Presswood, Sr., Rickey Moore, and Royce Beasley (Broderick); brothers, Ollie Thompson (Patricia) and Jimmie Hardwick (Rose), Bob Harris, and Jeffery Green; cousin, Mildred Rupert; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; the Hurst family, the Molock family, the Johnson family, the Forest Hill Church of Christ family, and numerous friends who are like family.
