Anita Gayle Bowers

August 17, 1942November 18, 2021

Anita Gale Bowers (Stockton) passed away on November 18th at the age of 79. Anita was born August 17, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to parents E.C and Camille Stockton. She spent most of her life in East Fort Worth graduating from Poly High School where she played clarinet as a member of the Poly Marching 100 Band. Her family was very active at Poly Presbyterian church, and she enjoyed being involved in politics from an early age.

Anita married in 1961 and was later blessed with the birth of her daughter Renee’ and son Eddie. After being a stay-at-home Mom for several years Anita began her insurance career with World Service Life Insurance Company in 1975 where she was hired in the Group Administration department. In 1996 she transitioned to International Benefit Services where she received numerous recognitions from management for her outstanding job performance. Although never formally trained in programming, Anita served as the administrative liaison with the Information Services department and became one of the company's most valuable systems analysts. Her policy knowledge and interpersonal skills routinely drew the admiration of her coworkers and supervisors. She enjoyed problem solving and troubleshooting system errors and was frequently in demand because of her expertise.

Her love for her children was truly evident in everything she did. She was the type of Mom who was very engaged in all her children’s activities no matter how big or small and was always there to support and attend every game, performance, and endeavor. In later years she was overjoyed with the birth of her grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and delighted in attending and participating in their lives and activities. She was also like a second Mom to Margarita, Ricardo, and Karla Gonzalez.

She enjoyed travel, history, old movies, and British comedies. She especially enjoyed spending time at her family’s cabin in Colorado. Anita will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and integrity. She was fiercely independent, strong, and positive even in the face adversity.

She was preceded in death by her parents E.C. and Camille Stockton. She is survived by her brother and his wife William “Bill” and Chris Stockton, children and their spouses, Renee’ and William Bezio, and Eddie and Carol Bowers, grandchildren Connor Bezio and Brailey Bezio, and nieces and nephews Richard Stockton, Amy Stockton, Chalie Galligan, Tim Harkrider, Mike Harkrider, and Sherry Stewart.

A service will be held on Friday, November 26th at 12pm at Shannon Rose Hill with graveside immediately following. Attendees are encouraged to come at 11:00 to reminisce with family and friends before the service.
