

FORT WORTH -- Avis Dane Lynch passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, which she fought with grace, dignity and courage. She was a much beloved person who will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2414 Hitson Lane, Fort Worth, 76112. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Avis was born in Mart on March 1, 1929, daughter of the late Alonzo Howard Calvery and the late Inez Morris Calvery. She and her family moved to Fort Worth in the 1940s. She attended Arlington Heights High School, and graduated from Texas Christian University in 1950 with a degree in home economics. She married John Shaw Lynch in 1953, the start of a long and wonderful marriage. They moved to Handley on the east side of Fort Worth in 1960, which is still their family home today. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and worked part time as a substitute teacher. She was president of the PTA at East Handley Elementary, a Cub Scout den mother, and a Girl Scout assistant leader. She loved sewing, gardening, reading, baseball and basketball.
Survivors: Her husband of 62 years, John Shaw Lynch; children, Cherry Lynch Hudson and her husband, Scott, Jeanine Lynch Socha and her husband, Neal, Russell Wayne Lynch and his wife, Nancy Ulrich, Larry Glenn Lynch and his wife, Jennifer O'Connor-Lynch; grandchildren, Julie Lynch Cochran and her husband, Tom, Robin Shaw Lynch and his wife, Ana Ramirez, Stephanie Marie Lynch and her husband, Chris Mappus, Kathleen Elizabeth Lynch, Brendon Chase O'Connor-Lynch, Patrick Dane O'Connor-Lynch and Colemon Glenn O'Connor-Lynch; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Jane Cochran, Isabelle Dane Cochran, Watson Martin Boyd, Christopher Shaw Lynch Ramirez and Ana Cecilia Lynch Ramirez. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Nell Daniel and her husband, Walter; and her nephews, Richard Allen Daniel, and Raymond Ellis Daniel and his wife, Kathi Sundet Daniel.
