Barbara was born April 15, 1935, to Leslie and Zona Mason in Dallas, Texas. She lived the majority of her life in Fort Worth and graduated from Polytechnic High School. Barbara met her lifelong soulmate, Don Wren of Big Spring, Texas, at North Texas State University. Barbara and Don were happily married for 63 years prior to his death in 2017.
Barbara was an only child but her childhood was filled with loving cousins, lifelong friends, and many pets. Her fondness of pets grew through the years and she always had a cat or dog by her side. They were her furry children.
Barbara and Don raised three children and taught them many important life’s lessons. She loved her family fiercely. Nobody was a stranger to her as she cared about so many people and would go out of her way to help if you needed it. Barbara was a stay-at-home wife and mother for many years and later worked for Fort Worth ISD as a school secretary and as a secretary in FWISD court-related office, retiring in 1995. Barbara was an outstanding cook, with chicken and dumplings or apple pie frequently requested. She was a gifted artist too and fostered a love of fine arts in her family. Barbara volunteered at church, school activities, and was a member of the Junior Woman’s Club and the Woman’s Club of Fort Worth for decades.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wren. She is survived by daughter, Leslee Wren Browning (Trey) of Fort Worth; daughter, Lori Wren Schimmel (Breck) of Keller; son Jim (Jana) Wren of Dallas; grandchildren: Lindsey, Ashley, Dustin, Kirby, Nicole and Nathan; and great-grandchildren: Jake, Ryan, Avery, Dylan, Colt, Kinley, Kali and Kamryn; and countless friends and extended family.
