Benjamin Childs of Hudson Cemetery Rd in Mansfield,TX passed peacefully in his 86th year. Ben was never ready to concede “old age” buying his final motorcycle on his 80th birthday. He was born and raised in San Antonio, TX to Ernest Henry Childs and Micaela Gomez Childs. He was the youngest of 4 siblings, with an adopted sister joining the family.
Ben served a term in the Army during peacetime. He later moved his family to Fort Worth working as a mechanical engineer at General Dynamics. Ending his career at Bell Textron.
Ben had a love of the outdoors including being an avid astronomy gazer, building his own telescope, spending a summer as a volunteer at the University of Colorado observatory.
He is survived by his children, Norman P. Childs (Shelia), Diana L. Braly (Gordon), Elizabeth McCaslin (Greg), Gerald Childs (Wendie), Benjamin Wade Childs and Jason B. Childs, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren & many other family members.
