Bernie Lee Eppler

Born on March 3rd, 1950, in Coleman, Texas, Bernie was the son of Levi and Delma Eppler. He lived a life marked by faith, service, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Bernie proudly served his country in the United States Army. Shortly after his service he met the love of his life, Janet Carol Coffey, while attending Gadsden Community College. The two were married in 1971 and shared 50 wonderful years together before Janet's passing. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, love, and partnership, and together they built a family that became Bernie's greatest source of pride.

A lifelong learner, Bernie earned a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Master's Degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University. Throughout his life, he wore many hats with distinction. He was a licensed electrician, custom home builder, business owner, and a dedicated educator. Whether teaching others, building homes, or serving his community, Bernie approached every endeavor with integrity, humility, and excellence.

Above all, Bernie cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a steady presence in the lives of those he loved and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and kindness.

Bernie is survived by his children: Brad Eppler and his wife, Kelly; Melanie Eppler; and Andrew Eppler and his wife, Liz. He was a proud grandfather to Gentry, John, Greyer, and Juliette, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.

Bernie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Janet Carol Eppler.

Those who knew Bernie will remember his quiet strength, his willingness to help others, and his deep love for his family. His influence will continue to be felt through the many lives he touched—as a soldier, educator, builder, mentor, and devoted family man.

Though he will be deeply missed, Bernie's legacy lives on in the family he loved, and the countless memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Crowley, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Bernie's life and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
