

A visitation for Betty will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Laurel Land FH - Ft Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Chapel of Chimes, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134-3347.
Betty was born June 5,1931 to Harold & Sadie Blickenstaff in Lafayette, IN. Born Mary Lou Blickenstaff, she was adopted in 1933 by George and Myrtle Monroe in Kentland, IN and renamed Betty Myrtle Monroe.
Betty and Herb had been searching for her birth family her entire life when , in 1995 at age 64, Betty had the joyful experience of discovering her full brother, Bill Blickenstaff ,and 13 half-brothers and sisters.
she had a very close, loving relationship with Bill & wife Vera from the day forward and continued to enjoy her other newfound siblings and families as well.
One of Betty's most prized possessions was given to her by her Blickenstaff family: a small wooden chair made by her birth father for his little girl with her name, Mary Lou, across the front of it.
Betty graduated from High School in Kentland in 1949 and continued her education with 2 years of nursing school at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lafayette. she loved her career as an LVN, working for many years for Dr. Egelston in Dallas,TX. Her role at the doctor's office evolved to include office duties and, after the doctor retired , she continued doing accounting from home into her late eighties.
Betty & Herb Timberlake were wed in August 1951. They had two sons. Dave, born August 1952 and Bob, born August 1953. Betty and Herb moved to Dallas in 1972, then to Fort Worth in 1983 and Betty shared a home with son Bob and wife for the last 3 years. She and Herb were very active in their church, Eastern Hills UMC. She was very supportive of the church's ministry to those in need, sending many clothes to their Clothes Closet. They were also faithful members of the Eastern Star. Betty served as the Worthy Matron of their Eastern Star chapter several times, with Herb serving as her Worthy Patron. They have many close friends from their church, Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Herb Timberlake. She is survived by her sons, Dave Timberlake of Phoenix, and Bob and wife JoAnn Timberlake of Fort Worth; two grandchildren , Laura and husband Don English of Dallas , and Daniel Timberlake of Dallas ; and six great grandchildren , Poema Isla and Paxton Timberlake , and Charlotte, Sterling and August English.
