Betty Jean White

Born on December 21, 1934, in Asher, Oklahoma, Betty was a cherished daughter to Roscoe and Annie Johnson, who preceded her in death, alongside her siblings, Irene Ames and Bill Johnson; her son, Mark Collins; and her dear husbands, Ray Collins and Donald White. Betty was also predeceased by her stepson, Randy White.

Betty’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and compassion. She began her journey in the world of fashion, working at Brown’s Department Store in Oklahoma City after attending Business College. Her life took a meaningful turn when she and her first husband, Ray Collins, moved to Amarillo, Texas, to become dorm parents at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. They nurtured and guided 37 boys, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

In 1964, Betty and Ray moved to Hurst, Texas, where Betty embraced her role as a homemaker and the supportive wife of a Hurst police officer. Her warm biscuits were a staple of the hospitality she poured into the community. After Ray’s passing in 1971, Betty found love again with Donald White, with whom she shared a beautiful, blended family. The White family welcomed her with open arms.

Betty’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Hurst Blvd Church of God, she participated in the Ladies Ministry and served as a youth sponsor. Her role as a prayer warrior was a testament to her unwavering belief in the power of prayer and deep compassion for family and friends. She was known for her beautiful smile, which reflected her genuine kindness and grace.

After retirement, Donald and Betty enjoyed traveling in their RV and flying abroad. Betty also found joy in cooking, tending to flowers, and sewing.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by her daughter, Donna Alexander and her husband, Charlie; her stepdaughter, Janet Peacock and husband, Steve; her stepson, JoDean White and wife, Ronda; along with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward.

A celebration of Betty’s life will take place on October 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Life Fellowship Church. Family and friends will gather to honor her spirit of love and gentleness.
