Beverly J. Hester

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at Sagamore Baptist Church, 2301 Dottie Lynn Pkwy, Ft. Worth, TX on Wednesday, December 27 at 11:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.

Beverly was born in Tulsa, OK. To Harry and Ruby Stottlemyre on January 5,1934. She married Jay Nelson Hester on Sept. 20, 1952 at Riverside Baptist Church in Ft. Worth. They have been married 71 years. After she raised her two children, she went back to school graduating from Texas Wesleyan College in 1972 and taught kindergarten at S.S. Dillon in Ft. Worth for ten years.

Beverly loved her church, Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, and was a member for 69 years. She loved being in the Salvation Army Women’s for twenty years, especially working the annual garage sale and she loved her forty plus years with her women’s prayer group.

Beverly was adored by all who knew her. From her husband, her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her brothers and sister, cousins, friends, her children’s friends and her grandchildren’s friends. She was even adored by store clerks and most everyone she crossed paths with. Her faith in Christ and her family were the most precious to her. Since most of Beverly’s entire family lived locally, she was able to participate in a lifetime of motherly – grandmotherly activities. She loved going to her grandchildren’s plays, recitals and all sporting events, and especially loved going to her granddaughters T.C.U. volleyball games. Beverly Hester was indeed the epitome of love and commitment, serving as a shining example of a woman devoted to God and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers JR & Gene Stottlemyre. Beverly is survived by husband Jay Nelson Hester, son G. Jay Hester & fiancé Debra Wakeland, daughter Sue Ann Soll & husband Don, sister Ramona Melton of Birmingham AL. Grandchildren Jay Hester JR. & wife Sissy, Cody Slay & wife Suzi, Jennifer Swanson & husband Phil, Whitney Cooper & husband Rob, Irene Pollock & husband JD, Kristen Holle & husband Greg and 12 great-grandchildren.
