Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth. Visitation: The family will receive friends noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Billy R. was born June 15, 1930, in Richland Springs, where he grew up working on the farms. He joined the Army, serving as a medic during the Korean War. He was honored with the Silver Star for his help in saving the lives of many fellow soldiers. After returning from the war, Billy joined the State Department, working as a heavy machine operator until he retired.
Billy R. was preceded in death by his spouse, Myrle Herring (1981); his second wife, Mildred Herring (2002); and his stepdaughter, Becky Jester.
Survivors: Children, Delores and husband, Fred Horton, Debby and husband, Donny Stone, Kay and husband, Monty Childers, and Jerry Kile; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jo Beth, Betty, Nelda and Fay.
