Bobbie Jo Burns, lovingly known as Nanny, passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on August 6, 1929, in Ranger, Texas, she lived a life defined by unwavering faith, remarkable resilience, boundless compassion, and a spirit entirely her own.
Bobbie was a bold, free-spirited woman who never shied away from making a statement. A true fashionista with a creative eye, she expressed herself through her clothes, jewelry, and unique creations. She had a gift for transforming ordinary things into something beautiful, always leaving her unmistakable touch behind.
Beneath her vibrant personality was a humble and selfless heart. She was someone you could turn to for an adventure and encouragement to live life on the edge, but also someone who would comfort you through life’s hardest moments without judgment. Her home was open to everyone, and everyone who knew her held a place in her heart. Her love reflected the unconditional love she found in her Lord and Savior.
Bobbie carried the memory of her beloved sons, Todd and Dempsey, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Gina, who was the light of her world and shares her spirited nature. She is also survived by her sister, Pat, and held dear the memories of her late brothers, Glen and Charles. Her grandchildren, Kristin, Sierra, Grace, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Zayde, Kya, and Jaycin; and great-great-grandchildren, Delilah and Jackson, were among the greatest joys of her life. She always found ways to remind them how deeply they were loved.
Rarely without her trusty disposable camera, Bobbie was a keeper of memories, determined to capture every gathering, smile, and special moment. Through her photographs and scrapbooks, she preserved the memories that brought her family together, understanding that life’s greatest treasures are often the moments we never want to forget.
Through every hardship, Bobbie’s faith remained steadfast. She taught those around her to persevere, love without reservation, and embrace the unexpected with courage. Her boldness lives on in those who dare to be different, her resilience in those who carry on, her faith in those who trust the Lord, and her love in every heart she touched.
The world was more colorful because she was in it, and our lives will forever be more beautiful because she was ours.
Until we meet again, Nanny. Loved beyond measure, missed beyond words, and cherished for a lifetime.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 beginning at 2:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas. A visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 12:00 PM. Bobbie Jo Burns will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
