Carl Mark Crutison, aged 54, from Arlington, TX, a cherished soul known for his inviting spirit and compassionate heart, passed away on April 17th, 2024.
Born to Jasper Jr. and Hattie Ruth Crutison in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 19th, 1969, he was the fourth of their ten children, the beloved brother of Robbin, Jasper ‘JC’ III (Joanna), Martin, Allahim ‘Ali’ (Marchelle), Yasin (Angie), Hadiah, Bilal, Samir, and April. Affectionately known by his parents and siblings as “Frog,” he was loved by many and will be missed by many more.
On October 13th, 1988, Carl’s life took a joyful turn marrying his high school sweetheart Sonja Sallis. They shared more than 36 years and had two daughters, WaKeelah and JaMeelah, and later took in his “wanksta” son Michaud (Ebonie aka “Lil Thirsty”), two grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Carl attended Douglas High School, where he was an outstanding athlete, in May 1988. On August 2nd, 1988, he entered the US Army completing 7 years of service, with more than 2 years of foreign service in Southwest Asia and the Middle East. Carl garnered multiple medals, commendations, and awards all of which led to him achieving the rank of Sargent and separating honorably from the US Army on May 14th, 1995.
Post-military service, Carl embarked on a 6-year higher education journey ultimately receiving a Bachelors and MBA from DeVry University. Post-graduation, he began a successful career in management and customer service. Retiring in 2017, he indulged in grilling, sport fishing, and supporting his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Preceded in death by a sister, his Father and Mother – his spirit, characterized by generosity, warmth, and a genuine love for life, will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort, joy, and inspiration to all who knew him.
