Carolyn Barnes, died Thursday, January 10th at the age of 81. Carolyn loved God and people—which is why she spent so much time at Southcliff Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for over 20 years. Carolyn loved Diet Coke, good food, dominos and conversation. That last part really bothered her daughters during high school because she always tied up the phone. Most of all, Carolyn was kind. As her health failed her characteristic smile and quippy one liners didn’t. She is survived by her husband of 63 years—Durwood Barnes—and two daughters: Cathy Hutchison and Karen McConathy. She has two pretty cool son-in-laws (John and Rick) and grandchildren she would tell you all about (Chase, Austin, Bethany and Elissa.)
