Charles Edward Chenault passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes.
Charles, the youngest of five children, was born in Ft. Worth on July 16, 1923 to Rufus Ballard and Anna Chenault. He entered the United States Navy in 1943 and served his country on the USS Breeman until 1946. While on the navy destroyer, he was part of a top-secret mission to keep 30 tons of Polish gold out of the hands of the Nazis and deliver it to the United States.
On August 31, 1946 he married Beverly Bunnell Chenault and they raised four children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years and is survived by his daughter, Charlya Chenault Ward and husband, Mike; son, Charles Edward Chenault, Jr.; son, Steven Craig Chenault and wife, Kim; son, Rodger Bunnell Chenault and wife, Debbie; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
