I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work, or play. Tasks undone must stay that way. I have found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it now with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, all these things, I too shall miss. My life has been full; I have savored much – good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, but do not lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift your heads up and share with me. God wanted me now. He set me free.
Christopher Aaron Wilkins, Sr. was born August 14, 1974, to Cornelia Huxie Fisher Wilkins and Horace Wilkins, Jr. in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended the Fort Worth Public Schools, graduating from Northside High School, Magnet Program, with honors. He studied at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Chris Sr. was a strong proponent of family unity, a skilled communicator and love of fun, joyous times. God blessed Chris with an infectious smile, and his unconditional love for people was a trait by which he was known widely. His gifts of love, joy, kindness, and tolerance had a positive effect on all persons who crossed his path, whether a family member, co-worker, fraternity brother, stranger, or friend. The life objective of Chris was twofold – to give his best to others, and likewise, to encourage them to translate their goals into realities.
Chris was a cherished member of the Nu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi at Purdue University. Kappa brothers from Purdue, brothers from all over the Midwest, and brothers in his beloved home state of Texas, all knew that Chris loved his brothers and the Bond. For several years, Chris’ campus residence was the de facto Purdue Kappa House. Chris hosted alumni, undergraduate and traveling brothers in his home on many occasions. Chris’ warm hospitality blessed all visitors with incredible food, delightful drinks, and his infectious laugh. Chris also loved his golf at Purdue. He consistently whipped his brothers on the campus courses. “Big Chris” was a wonderful member of the Fraternity. He was loved and will be sorely missed.
Chris will always be remembered as a very positive thinking individual who was always dedicated to his family, his fraternity, his career, and his many caring friends.
Chris and his son, Chris Jr., shared many good times together. Chris Sr. supported Chris Jr. in Little League football, Cub Scout Camping activities, football camps and clinics at the University of North Texas. Chris Sr. also enjoyed being involved in Chris Jr.’s football and Lacrosse games as well as wrestling matches at Fort Worth Country Day School. Spectators would always know Chris Sr. was in attendance because he yelled louder than anyone else in the stands. He and Chris Jr. enjoyed numerous family cruises, vacations, and family gatherings along with many other joyous and exciting activities.
Chris Wilkins, Sr., a devoted, loving son, father, big brother, and good neighbor, entered rest on Friday, October 2, 2020. He will forever be cherished in memory for the many joyous, happy, unforgettable times by his loving, devoted son, Christopher Aaron Wilkins, Jr.
