Clemontene Hooks Dickens was born on June 4, 1939, in Pittsburg, Texas, to Elton Sr. and Pauline (Phox) Hooks. In the late 1960s, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she met and married the love of her life, Billy Dickens. Together they built a loving home and shared a wonderful life in Fort Worth.
Clemontene worked as a beautician's assistant for many years before beginning her career at Texas Leather Trim, where she faithfully worked until her retirement. She was a devoted member of Elm Grove Baptist Church for many years. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she truly enjoyed attending church. She often spoke highly about the services and the fellowship she shared with her church family.
While she valued her faith, her greatest happiness came from spending time with those she loved. She treasured moments with her family, whether celebrating holidays, sharing meals, enjoying conversations, or simply being together. She found comfort in the peace of her home, where she enjoyed relaxing and watching her favorite television shows. Those simple moments brought her great joy, and her home was always a place of warmth, love, and welcome. She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, love, and the lasting impact she had on her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, LaTonnia Dickens of Waxahachie, Texas; two grandchildren, Monroe D. Compton (Jaadria) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Nikki Robinson (Efrem) of Waxahachie, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kiara Compton, Kennedy Compton, and Jonah Robinson; one sister, Willie Faye Flemings of Kentucky; one brother, George Hooks of Fort Worth, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton Sr. and Pauline Hooks; her beloved husband, Billy Dickens; three brothers, J. L. Hooks, James Hooks, and Elton Hooks Jr.; and two sisters, Ella Mae Duffey and Lucile Duffey.
Though she will be deeply missed, Clemontene's legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
