Clewesto was a high school graduate of A.J. Moore High School, class of 1955. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Paul Quinn College in 1959, and if you were around him you probably saw how sharp he was with numbers. He received his Master's degree in 1971.
Clewesto enlisted in the military in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. Clewesto was an advocate for education and was employed in the Fort Worth I.S.D. for 18 years. He later retired after 22 years as a Fort Worth School Administrator.
Clewesto met the love of his life, Shirley J. Tippens, in college and shared 54 years of marriage until her demise. He truly missed her.
Clewesto was the proud father of two children, Clewester Sims Jr. and Gina Michelle Smith.
Clewesto Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Hardy & Virgie Bain Smith; wife, Shirley Jean Smith; daughter, Gina Michelle Smith; siblings, Hardy E. Smith (Ramona), Roosevelt W. Smith Sr. (Frankie), Laura V. Jacobs (J.C.), Cora L. Simpson (W.G.)
He leaves to cherish his memories his son, Clewester Sims (Pittsburgh, CA); grandchildren, Eric Sims, David Sims, and Aisha Sims; great grandchildren, Ashanti Ferguson, Ayaila Sims, Amyleen Packard, and Amarion Packard, all from California; siblings, Cecil Smith (Ereta) Dallas, Texas, and Richard Smith (Ollie) Aurora, Colorado; in-laws, LaVerne Tippens, Ernest Tippens, and Linda D. Shed (Tippens); and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
