Cynthia Adele Overbeck Horst gained her heavenly crown on Sunday, October 25, 2020 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June. She was born in Denison, Texas on October 22, 1943, the first of two daughters born to US Postal railway worker Willard Hickman Overbeck and his wife, Rosa Adele Bruno. Cynthia attended Saint Xavier Catholic School, Denison Jr. High School and graduated from Denison High School in 1961. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1965. After graduation, and while working for the University of Texas Board of Regents, she met her future husband, Benjamin Jacob Horst. The two were married on June 4, 1967 at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas. They had four daughters, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Diana, and Jennifer. As a long time resident of Fort Worth, Cynthia was a top salesperson for Avon for many years before joining Kay’s Hallmark. She retired in 2009 after being diagnosed with and then beating breast cancer. Cynthia was active in her church, The Summit, the Aledo fellowship of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was an avid baker, gardener, knitter, loved to sing and play the piano and was an active participant in the Agape Girls bible study group. She is survived by her husband Benjamin Horst, four daughters Stephanie Horst of Weatherford, Elizabeth Horst Gray and husband Johnny Gray of Weatherford, Lieutenant Colonel Diana Horst Loucks and husband Lieutenant Colonel Gary Loucks of Highland Falls, New York, and Jennifer Horst and husband Lee Oakley of Dallas, six grandchildren, Brittany Vinson of Fort Worth, Chelsea Vinson of Fort Worth, Angela Oakley of Dallas, Anastasia Gray of Lewisville, Joshua Gray of Granbury and Loyrie Gray of Keene, and two nephews Christopher Horst of Houston, and Kenneth Horst of North Liberty, Iowa and his wife Jennifer and their daughters Kiera and Alexis. In lieu of flowers Cynthia requested donations be made to the building fund for The Summit, the Aledo fellowship of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
