Darlene Arganbright, 88, of Dallas, TX, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019. She was born November 7, 1930, in Okmulgee, OK, to the late H. Paul Meadows and Gertrude Meadows. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1948 where she met the love of her life, the late Bob Arganbright. They married in December that same year. She worked as an administrative assistant at Bethlehem Steel and in the Tulsa School District. After moving to Naperville, IL, she worked for the Naperville Public Schools, First Ogden and finished her career as Executive Assistant to the President of Harris Bank in Naperville. Darlene was a leader of her daughters’ Blue Bird and Campfire Girls troops and started and coached the first girls fast-pitch softball team at McClure Elementary School in Tulsa, OK. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, always available to lend a hand, offer laughter and company to those she loved. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Michael, her husband of nearly 60 years, Bob Arganbright, her sister, Patsy Coats, and her brother, Herb Meadows.
She is survived by daughters, Robin Lynn Womack and husband, Rick, of South Lyon, MI, and Susan Gail Allison and husband, David, of Dallas, TX; beloved grandchildren, Caroline Anne, Kelly Gail and Jesse Reed; great-grandchildren, John Robert and Addison Helena; and sister, Paula Root.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, TX on Monday, February 11, 2019. Graveside services will follow on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 10 AM at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of her son, Robert Michael, who preceded her in death at age three.
