It has been less than three short weeks since the call came letting us know that David, our dear brother, slipped away during the night.  Faithful as a clock to his work, his body was discovered by his boss and friend Jack when he didn't show up for work the following morning, reposed on the couch where he slept

The rhyme or reason why someone so young is taken can never be completely known. Although the autopsy said 'enlarged' heart, this explanation leaves unanswered questions, especially for someone who was an active part of the lives in his loving church and neighborhood communities, up until the night of his passing.  Literally, David, who loved all, died of a 'big heart' that touched everyone in his life.

As children many of us know our siblings in a different way than we have the opportunity to come to know them as adults.  Each of us in the Coe family went different directions as young adults and it has often been unfortunate experience that have allowed us to come together in that way.  Our Mom's passing last year afforded me the opportunity to just 'hang' with David for over six weeks in Ohio and get to know his kind, generous, always loving and often humorous nature in ways that I will always treasure.  I will also be forever grateful to each of my other siblings for the opportunity that afforded to come to know and appreciate each of them in a deeper, more meaningful way.

The beautiful celebration of life service and dinner organized by Laura and the Pastor of the Handley Baptist Church community that was attended by church members and Eastside neighborhood members gave us as immediate such a wonderful picture of the 'life and times' of the one of the David Coe-one fo a kind 'hippy, mountain man' that we had previously only had glimpses of.   The eulogy was truly a tribute to David and the picture collage beautiful.  Loving words spoken by friends and family afterwards will be remembered and treasured forever.

We are all so deeply grateful to all in your communities for having been welcomed and embraced by you all in the celebration and honoring of the beauty of his soul as he had shared that with you during the past 25 years of his life as the Texan transplant from Ohio know to many as 'Coie'.  No words will ever fill the void and sense of sadness left by David's early passing, but our hope that each of you will know and feel the love extended to all in gratitude for having been a part of his life and reason for loving being a part of your lives. 

Each of you had a personal history with David that will leave you with memories of the special and unique person that he truly was.   Hopefully his living example of truly living a 'Christ-like' lifestyle will continue to touch you and everyone in your lives in the same way that he has touched ours and yours.

We know that David is resting peacefully in the arms of The Lord.  May each of you find that same peace in your hearts today and always!

Dave was more than someone who would always help others. He was a peaceful, kind person who really tried to walk the walk. A good friend. I still can not believe he is gone! My family will always remember his sweetness, and Kim is right, the Eastside will miss his smile. We should all remember to love, and tell those dear to us we do love them, as life is so fragile.

Dave was friend for twenty years.Dave was always there if you needed help.He will truly be missed.

Dave, I have known you many years..Since I was a teenager I am honored to have you in my life and my children. You will be missed. My children and I have the honor of knowing you. I love you and the neighborhood will not be the same.

I and my family had the great honor of David in our lives.David was a great man and a great friend.he will be missed by all. I am thankful to have had him in our lives.

coie was a good friend of me and my wife for thirty years.he was a good hearted man and would do anything For he will be missed .

I'm glad we could all get together early this year - I was so impressed when Peggy and I went down to see  your mom and David was there for the long term - as long as he was needed, he said.  Even though you are all far apart, there's a lot of love in your family.  Those Fisher women were something else.  Hopefully their wisdom has touched all of us - certainly it touched David.  ~Betty

Aloha'Oe David . . Your loving kindness will be missed by so, so many.  Darn that you needed to leave so soon. Time spent together during Mom's passing was so healing for me.
