David was born in Jacksonville, Texas and was raised in Fort Worth by his parents, Harold H Hightower and Averil Thelma Priestley Hightower along with his brother, Byron Winston, “Buddy” Hightower. He attended R. L. Paschal high school and served in the Army, stationed in Alaska.
After serving his country, he returned to Fort Worth and made a life for himself and his family. He became a laser printer technician and ran one of the first laser printer machines developed. During his career he worked for several businesses and eventually ran several businesses of his own.
He met Linda McElveen and they were married in 1993 in Las Vegas, NV blending their two families of two girls each into one big family between them. They also had four grandchildren, three girls and one boy. David loved camping, fishing, playing cards and traveling. He also enjoyed belonging to a Senior softball team.
David and Linda spent many happy years of retirement together, spending time with their grandchildren and traveling in their RV. In their later years, they enjoyed staying at home and sitting out on the porch grilling, swimming, and enjoying the outdoors.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Averil Hightower, and his brother, Buddy Hightower.
He is survived by his wife Linda Hightower, his daughter Debra and husband Jay Moore, of Grand Saline, their two daughters Kate Marnik and Jenny Gibson, both from Fort Worth. Holly and her husband, Doug Baxter and their two children Brandon and Brooke Baxter of Fort Worth, Laura and her husband Tom Duran,of Arlington, and Tracey McElveen of Joshua.
David will be remembered for his unwavering sense of right, his work ethic, and his love & devotion to family & friends.
