Dawna was born in Sacramento, California in 1976. She was named after the singers Donnie & Marie Osmond and actually met the duo at a performance when she was about 4 years old. When she was young, Dawna was active in the Mormon Church and graduated from Bella Vista High School with a 4 year degree in Human Services.
Dawna has always been an extremely caring person, but she was a bit shy as a child.
She enjoyed traveling and loved her visits to Europe and Great Britain. While in Europe she first met the soon-to-be love of her life, Scott. The Good Lord brought them together again several years later and they quickly realized they were destined to be together.
She worked early on for the Hilton Hotel chain, working at various hotels for them in Washington and Bakersfield. Most recently, she has returned to work part time for the pre-school where she assisted in the classroom where her daughter, Adia, and son, Liam, attended.
She was active with the North Richland Hills Church of Christ and loved working with the children there.
She is survived, and will be dearly missed by her best friend and loving husband, Scott and her children, whom she adored and loved dearly, Emily 8, Adia, 3 ½ and Liam 1 ½. She is also survived by her brothers Jim Gillis of Bakersfield, CA; Wayne Gillis from Sacramento, CA; Duncan Gillis from Bakersfield, CA; her sisters Jill Switzer from Grand Prairie, TX; Alexus Gillis from Bakersfield, CA; and Mary Beth (Casey) Cousins from Fort Worth, TX; along with her father Jim Gillis and step-mother Vicki Gillis from Bakersfield, CA; her parents-in-law Dave & Deborah Gallaher from Fort Worth, TX; and Frank & Dawn Casey from Stratford, OK; 6 nieces and nephews: Morgan Gillis, Alex Gillis, Alyssa Gillis, Nevan Gillis, Katelyn Gillis and Danica Gillis; her grandparents Dan & Marion Mealey of Rancho Cordova, CA; Olga Gillis of Vancouver, Canada; and Wanda Pales of Fort Worth, TX.
