Del Nichols Wachtel

Del was born Nov. 26, 1936, to Harold and Edna Wachtel in Marion, Ill. He earned his bachelor of art degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1958. He married Martha Jane McBride in 1962 and was married for 52 years. He worked in Elderly Housing, Public Housing Administration, and retired as a budget analyst for HUD after 33 years of service.

He was a member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church and its Wesleyan Class. He enjoyed being at home, working in the yard and fixing and improving things around the house.

After a long, slow decline and an honorable fight, Del Nichols Wachtel passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, surrounded by his friends and family.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Visitation: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the church parlor.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadowbrook United Methodist Church or Parkinson's Support Group of Tarrant County, 4638 Lafayette Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76107.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Lee Wachtel.

Survivors: Hs loving wife, Martha Wachtel; son, John Wachtel and wife, Kim; and grandsons, Adam and Connor Wachtel.
