Derek Laron Ward

Derek Laron Ward was born on October 15, 1959, to Delores Wilkins in Kansas City, Missouri. Derek attended Shelby Center for the Mentally Challenged in Hesperia, California. He has always lived at home. He had special needs for all 64 years of his life and has been living at home with family. When the schools offered living quarters for him, his mother, Delores, would not have it. She wanted him to grow up in a loving caring, and conducive environment regardless of what psychiatrists and doctors were telling her.

Derek loved riding his bike, watching Knight Ryder, bowling, listening to his music, and hanging out with family on holidays and special events, like birthdays. He was most happy just being with family.

He is survived by; his parents, Limous and Delores Walker; sisters, Stephanie Smith and Stacey Clair; nephews, Christopher Auther, Brandon Smith, Trenton Clair, Clayton Walker and Cristiano Auther; nieces, Giovanna Hernandez, Amaya Auther, Torie Walker and Aubrey Walker.
