

Dixie was born May 12, 1931 in Lufkin to Edna and James Cooney. She grew up in Tyler, Texas and graduated from high school in Tyler. She was a twirler in the Blue Brigade Marching Band.
She moved to Dallas and on May 5, 1950 she married the love of her life, Jerry Fields.
Dixie had three wonderful daughters that were all supposed to be boys. She moved her family to Duncanville, Texas in 1960 where they lived until the 1980's.
Dixie made life long friends when she started playing team tennis at Kiest Park. She and Jerry enjoyed many wonderful trips with these friends over the years. She loved antiques and would set up at local flea markets to buy and sell antiques. Her home is still filled with antiques.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 63 years, Jerry and their faithful dog, Bandi.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherrie Cox and her husband Adrian, Toni Ash and her husband Perry, Dixie Morrison and her husband Mike; six grandchildren, Brandie Smith, Chris Cox, Amanda Douglas, Samantha Ash, Jeremy Morrison and Mason Morrison; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and sister, Jennie Brown.
