Donald J Rejda was born on March 2nd, 1938, and passed away July 18, 2023. Don grew up in Bruno, Nebraska, then moved to Brainard, Nebraska where he attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and Brainard public school where he graduated in 1956.
After Don’s family moved to Lincoln in 1957, he attended University of Nebraska at Lincoln and joined the Air National Guard. Don began his career at the Federal Soil Conversation Service as an Engineering Draftsman and over the next 34 years promoted to Cartographic Technician and eventually to Supervisory Cartographer.
In 1984 Don and his family moved to Fort Worth, Texas. Don was dedicated to his faith and his church. For 39 years he was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and worked in the church food pantry. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 20 years.
On special occasions Don’s family would coax him to play a polka on his accordion. Don also enjoyed wood working, playing chess, and card games. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends.
Don is survived by his beautiful wife of 22,307 days (61 years 3 weeks and 4 days): Audrey (Hasser) Rejda, his two little sisters: Rose (Bob) Codr and Chris (Greg) Royal, his children: James (Carmen Jo) Rejda, Jerry Rejda, Ann (Tom) Wolfe, and Jennifer Rejda-McCleery. Don is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Arielle (Nick) Fritz, Madeline Wolfe, Noah Rejda-McCleery, Mason Rejda-Boots, and one great-grandson Otto Fritz.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Helen Rejda, sister Dorothy Evans and a sister who died at birth.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 27 at St Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 3601 Altamesa Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76133.
He will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
