Mr. Donald Wilton Sneed of Fort Worth Texas passed peacefully to his eternal home on January 29,2021. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren sang him home to the songs of Zion. He is survived by Marzelle his beloved wife of 76 years, three children Dr Jonathan and Pamela Sneed, Rebecca Sneed, and Dr Daniel and Lynn Sneed, twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude from SMU with degrees in Mathematics and Greek, Don joined the Navy where he served as ship’s Navigator in the South Pacific during WW II. There he had the privileges of being the Captain’s regular chess opponent and eating at the Captain’s table.
Don’s education lead him to a career as an Actuarial Fellow and his love of God’s Word lead him to a lifelong association with the Gideon’s International. Joining at age 19 he was an active member of the Gideon’s for 79 years. An avid student of the scriptures, he read through the Bible annually and loved having the opportunity to share God’s Word.
He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed sitting around the dinner table engaged in good hearted debate and theological discussions. He and Marzelle created a safe space for many to feel celebrated and cared for over the years, and their warm, loving relationship was a wonderful model.
He was a remarkable example of a kind hearted, God honoring man who lived a life full of gratitude and joy. His new position includes a seat at The Table of The Almighty King of Glory.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International, The Fort Worth Southwest Camp, PO Box 16707, Fort Worth, TX 76162-0707.
