

Don or Duck as his friends and family knew him, met the love of his life Jeri when he was 15 and they went on their first date on his 16th birthday. They were happily married for 62 years. He loved his family dearly and they shared many wonderful adventures together.
Duck went to work in the lumber business right out of high school. He only had three jobs his whole life, all of them in the lumber industry.
Duck was an avid horseman. He had a passion for horses and he enjoyed showing cutting horses. Some were his horses and he also showed some of his friend’s cutting horses. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and bowling. After his retirement Duck and Jeri traveled all over the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Evans Tawater and Lela Alma (Hand) Tawater, and his brother James Ronald Tawater.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeri Tawater, his daughter Gina Brown (Floyd), his son Donald Wade Tawater, and daughter Cynthia Tawater. His grand children, Thomas “TJ” Cross (Angelina), Sarah Cross-Gillett, Jake Blackwell, Amy Blackwell, and Jordan Tawater (Erin), and three great grandchildren, and his life long best friend Gene Pirtle.
Due to Covid he didn’t want to have a funeral service or visitation and the family will honor his wishes. His body will be laid to rest at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth.
