Allene was born March 25, 1921, in Venus, the ninth child of C.W. and Dora E. Smith Broxson. She moved to Gasoline in 1923. After her mother's death in 1936, she moved to Bellview, N.M., to live with her sister's family, Ruby and Gibbs Rucker. In 1939, she moved to Quitaque to live with her brother and his wife, L.A. and Opal Broxson, and was the salutatorian of the 1939 class. In August 1939, she married J. Byron Young in Childress. One son, Gary Byron Young, was born to them in 1941. She was a Sunday school leader and teacher for young people and the B.Y.P.U. at First Baptist Church in Turkey. Allene was the past matron of Chapter 569, Order of the Eastern Star, in Turkey.
In 1966, she moved to Fort Worth to become a commercial loan teller at University State Bank. She was past president of South Fort Worth Business and Professional Women's Club, past president of Nautilus Club, member of Past Matron and Past Patron Club of District 3, section OES. Her memberships included the Bedouin Ladies' Group, Ladies Without Shriners, Theatre Guild Group, Daughters of the Nile and White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake.
Allene was preceded in death by her first husband, Byron, and her second husband, Harry; five brothers, Willie, Cecil, Jack, L.A. and Charles Wesley Broxson; and two sisters, Ruby Rucker and Viola "Toots" Fawver.
Survivors: Left to mourn Allene's passing are her son, Gary Young and his wife, Jane, of Keller; granddaughters, Audrey Miller and her husband, Mark, of Westlake and Jennifer Bullock and her husband, David, of Flower Mound; great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Miller, Alexandra Miller and Emily Bullock; great-grandson, Ryan Bullock; sister, Hattie Lois Carter of Lubbock, and brother, T.J. Broxson and his wife, Barbara, of Artesia, N.M.
