Dorothy Owen Jones

Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Bridgewood Church of Christ, 6516 Brentwood Stair Road, Fort Worth. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth.

Dorothy was born July 8, 1925, in Ore City to Nathaniel and Ethel Owen. She was a longtime member of Bridgewood Church of Christ. Dorothy was married to Charles M. Jones, her beloved husband and the love of her life, for 59 years. She retired from Gifford-Hill Concrete in 1988 after a long, successful career as a commercial credit manager. During her career Dorothy was a member of the National Association of Credit Management and received several awards for her work in this organization.

However, Dorothy's greatest joys in life were her Christian faith and her family. Her closest friends were the ladies of the Bridgewood congregation. She remained close to her beloved sister, Natalie Murphy, throughout her life. If you ever wanted to see Dorothy shine, all you had to do was mention her four grandchildren and especially her newest two great-granddaughters.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jones, and her sister, Louise Whatley.

Survivors: Sister, Natalie Murphy of Galveston; son, Michael Jones and wife, Diane, of Arlington; daughter, Michelle Sawyer and husband, David, of Arlington; grandsons, Brant Martinez and wife, Mary, of Justin, Josh Sawyer of Austin and Eric Jones of Arlington; granddaughter, Alysha Sawyer of Arlington; and great-granddaughters, McKayla Amador and Emery Martinez.
