

Dorothy Wilshire Shepherd, 93, went to her Heavenly Father at her home on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth, Pastors David Pickard and Gaylan Henry officiating. Interment: 1 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, 75211. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dorothy's memory can be made to charities that benefit the blind. Dorothy was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Cleburne to Alma Bransom Wilshire and Curtis Wilshire of Burleson. Mrs. Shepherd actively supported her husband and was a devoted mother who willingly served as an U.S. Army wife in Germany, Taiwan, and across the United States. She loved being around people, and her passion was playing dominoes. She was a member of South Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett L. Shepherd; son, Ronald L. Shepherd; stepson, Everett O. Shepherd; and sister, Beverly Bell. Survivors: Her daughter, Mellanie L. Clay and husband, David; niece, Patsy Mitchell of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six cousins; and loving caregivers.
