

FORT WORTH -- Dorthy Jene Barnett Cranford Perkins, 71, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2015. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a courageous, fourth battle with cancer.
Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Gambrell Street Baptist Church, 1616 West Gambrell St., Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 9 a.m. Thursday prior to service.
Dorthy was born Oct. 4, 1943, in Whitt to Graves Foster Barnett and Opal Presnall Barnett. Dorthy came to know her Lord, Jesus Christ, as a child and faithfully served Him all her life. She was a devoted mother and servant, who gave selflessly of herself to her family and friends. She loved to sing, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She had three sons, Chris, Don and Greg, with her first husband, Dr. Lorin Cranford. She married B.J. Perkins in 1994.
In her professional career, she started as a CPA for Arthur Young and Company and rose to tax manager. Later, she opened her own tax practice serving individuals and small businesses, caring for them like family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Graves and Opal Barnett.
Survivors: Her husband of 21 years, B.J. Perkins; children and their wives, Chris (Tanya), Don (Hallie) and Greg (Jennifer) Cranford; her grandchildren, Michael Cranford, Katie Cranford Melgren, Aaron Cranford, Helen Cranford, Brittany Cranford, Preston Cranford, Trevor Cranford, Andrew Cranford and Anabeth Cranford; her great-grandchild: Emma Jane Melgren; her sisters, Irene Johnston and Grace Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
