Eda Bernadine Antoine was born September 9, 1937 to Lloyd Antoine and Ethel Malone- Antoine in Eunice, Louisiana. She was the youngest of 9, she had 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Both parents and siblings preceded her in death. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Upon relocating to Texas she united with Church Victorius, later joining Beth-Eden Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. B.R. Daniels Sr., Pastor, in 1979. She faithfully served as a Culinary Ministry Leader for over 35 years; she remained an active and faithful member until God called her home.
Bern graduated high school in Louisiana where she also played basketball. She attended TSU and was a licensed Cosmetologist in the state of Louisiana. In Texas, she coached the Beth Eden Women’s Softball team. She was a stay at home mom and owner of Bea’s Boutique and Catering.
A beautiful union began on November 10, 1964 between Dennis and Bernadine Rougeau. To this union five children were born. They left Louisiana and has resided in Texas since 1968. They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Bern devoted much of her time and energy to her family whom she loved dearly. She believed that family came first and loved spending time with hers. She also loved shopping, cooking, children, church, watching Family Feud, and traveling.
Our Queen went home to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, January 21, 2021 at the age of 83. She is now reunited with her parents (Loyd & Ethel), siblings (Farris, Ethel, Shirley, Eola, Albert, Emily, Mable, and Alice), four children (Regis, Samuel, Jacqueline, and Johnathan), three grandchildren (Theophus, Artis, and Ari’Rhianna).
She leaves a legacy of love to her devoted husband, Dennis Rougeau, Sr.; children: Debra E. Fontenot, Gwendolyn F. Peyton (Robert), George J. Poydras Jr. (Rita), Lumus A. Poydras (Arlener), Patricia Y. Clarence, Alicia R. Rougeau- Varnado (Roosevelt), Deiadre D. Rougeau and Dennis Rougeau Jr.; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 3 Godchildren: Gerald Rougeau, SanTashshia Welch, and Kei’Angela Evans; and a host of family, friends, bonus children, bonus grandchildren, and bonus great grandchildren.
