Myrl was a devoted wife for 68 years, mother of four children, grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 6. She grew up on a dairy farm near Highway, NM. After graduating from high school in 1954, she married Bobbie Harold Davis and together they spent a number of years working on various cattle ranches in eastern New Mexico before finally making their home in Clovis, NM. As a wife and mother, Myrl dedicated herself to her family. Education, as well as a strong work ethic, was very important to her and was stressed to each child at an early age. She was actively involved in their learning and development, and one of her greatest joys was seeing all four of her children graduate from college — an accomplishment of which she was extremely proud.
Myrl had a remarkable gift for hospitality. She was a gracious hostess who made everyone feel welcome in her home. Whether hosting holiday gatherings, wedding and baby showers for friends and family, or simple everyday visits, she had a way of making each occasion feel special. She made it all look easy. Her home was always well cared for and orderly, reflecting the pride she took in caring for her family.
As her children grew older, Myrl began a career in banking working for several banks in Clovis in a variety of roles. Even while working full time, she continued to maintain her home and support her family with unwavering dedication. She enjoyed the work, enjoyed the challenge and had a natural aptitude for finance.
Myrl’s faith was strong and serving the Lord’s church was an important part of their life. She was a dedicated and active member of the 16th & Pile Church of Christ and then the West 21st Street Church of Christ in Clovis and also Gateway Church of Christ in Ruidoso, NM. She enjoyed singing and appreciated beautiful music. For years, she served in an a cappella singing group that sang for weddings and funerals. After full retirement, she moved to Fort Worth, TX to be near her family and became an active member of Southside Church of Christ in Fort Worth until her health declined. She was steadfast in her faith, openly sharing it with others and encouraging her children and grandchildren to know the Lord. In her final months, she often expressed that she was ready to be with the Lord.
Myrl is survived by her sons Steve Davis (Lori) of Burleson, TX, Brent Davis (Jayma) of Fort Worth, TX, and daughter Jill Webb (Faron) of Allendale, NJ, and her son, Curtis Davis (Melody) of San Antonio, TX. She had 8 grandchildren: Ashley (Murad), Luke (Molly), Claire (Zack), Thomas, Mark, Faith, Matthew and Joshua. She also had 6 great grandchildren: Miette, Alister, Genevieve, Merritt, Colin and Lucy. She truly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, with them affectionately calling her “Grandma Myrl”. She was very proud of all of them diligently holding them in her thoughts and prayers. She celebrated each one’s unique personality and accomplishments and watched with immense pride as they grew into adulthood and pursued their education and individual interests.
She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Jean Pape of Mansfield, TX and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, who passed away in 2023; her parents, J. B. and Ola Chenault; and her brother, Wayne Chenault.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her will be held at Southside Church of Christ, 2101 Hemphill, Fort Worth, TX, 76110 on April 19th, 2026 at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her honor to the Southside Church of Christ Food Pantry.
