Elmer Dale Scarth
March 12, 1927 – January 3, 2021
Elmer Dale Scarth (Dale) passed peacefully to be with the Lord on January 3rd 2021. He was born on March 12, 1927 in Higgins, Texas to Willard and Leila Scarth. Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Helen Johnson Scarth. He is survived by his daughter Debra Geater and husband Greg, son David Scarth and wife Ann, daughter Dee Anne Merrill and husband Richlon, and son Danny Scarth and wife Lucretia.
Dale and Helen were blessed with eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on February 13th at 1:00 pm at Sagamore Baptist Church, 2301 Dottie Lynn Parkway, Fort Worth. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Temple Christian School STEM program, or the charity of your choice.
After growing up in the Texas Panhandle and serving in the US Navy, Dale married Helen in Fredonia, KS. After graduating from Oklahoma State University, Dale went to work as an Engineer for Texas Electric Service Company where he retired as President in 1989.
During his long career working for TESCO, Dale became the youngest manager of a local office in the company. He became the Manager of the Western Region, then Vice President of Operations. In 1985 he became President.
Dale was named Engineer of the Year by the Texas Society of Engineers for the Permian Basin Chapter, for the Fort Worth Chapter and for the State of Texas.
Dale’s community service was broad including the Longhorn Council, FW Chamber of Commerce, United Way and the Advisory Council of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to community service, Dale spent much of his time at his favorite hobby of woodworking. His family enjoys many of the legacy pieces of fine furniture that he built. He was also an accomplished welder, mason and gardener. Dale was highly involved in the churches he attended. For many years he served as a deacon at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church. He served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board. After moving to Burleson Dale was instrumental at First Baptist Church of Burleson in expanding many of their charity and service programs. He also served as a Chairman of the Building Committee, constructing the new Family Life Center.
Dale Scarth was a committed husband, father, church member and executive. The catalog of his accomplishments is too great to list. He will be cherished and missed by his children, grandchildren and many friends.
We are confident that he has gone to be with his Lord.
