Elvira was born in Zacatecas, Mexico to parents Felipe and Lucina de la Cruz. She was the youngest of eighteen children. She later moved to Juarez, and met her husband of more than 30 years, Eugenio Pacheco. They raised a large family with their 7 children, and lived in El Paso for many years. Elvira moved to be closer to family in the Fort Worth area in 2000 and remained here until her passing.
Elvira enjoyed arts and crafts, and especially had a passion for painting ceramics. She always loved music and singing, and in her youth often loved to go out dancing. Elvira loved dining out, and often enjoyed spending time out with her grandchildren, and even enjoying a drink with them every so often. Her kitchen was always a gathering place to share some great stories and share in the meals she loved to cook for her family and friends. Fond memories and laughter came from her "sewing" the Thanksgiving Turkey every year, which always turned out delicious. She was very close to her sisters, and would often gather and make their "secret recipe" of Pan Ranchero. Elvira will always be remembered for being very humble, understanding, and always willing to give good advice. Her love, and patience and generosity will always be kept in those blessed to have shared in her life journey. A beloved mother, caring grandmother and great grandmother, and friend will be dearly missed.
