Eric Guerra

Eric was born on December 4, 1975, in Eagle Pass, Texas, to Walter Guerra Sr. and Magdalena “Maggie” Guerra. He was raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where he spent most of his life building a family, creating memories, and making an impact on the people around him.

Eric was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His greatest passion in life was his children, who were truly his world, but his love and devotion extended to his mother as well. Living with her, Eric was her primary caretaker and took great pride in making sure she was cared for, safe, and never without what she needed. He would spend every free moment he could with his children—whether shopping, going out to eat, watching movies, cooking out, making s’mores, or simply enjoying time together. He would do anything for his children, and everyone who knew Eric knew just how much they meant to him.

Eric took great pride in giving his children and grandchildren the very best. He loved collecting special things for them, including building an impressive figurine collection for his son Micah and a collection of Barbies for his daughter Carissa and his grandchildren. He loved finding the best boxing gear for his son Oscar and enjoyed going to the movies with his daughter Kailyn. His love was expressed not only through his words, but through the time, thought, and effort he poured into the people he loved.

Eric was also deeply proud of his children’s accomplishments and was always looking for ways to support them. He became a certified boxing coach so that he could be alongside Oscar and participate in his son’s boxing journey. He was the kind of father who wanted to be present—not simply watching from the sidelines, but standing beside his children every step of the way.

Professionally, Eric worked as an Assistant Manager at Extra Space Storage, a position in which he was thriving and deeply proud. He was honored as Employee of the Month, an accomplishment that reflected his dedication and work ethic. He had also recently completed his CDL certification, something he worked extremely hard to achieve and was proud of accomplishing.

On weekends, Eric also worked in real estate, traveling with Big Land and Lakes to sell acres of land. He enjoyed meeting people, traveling to different places, and helping others find opportunities through land ownership. His willingness to work hard and pursue new opportunities was another reflection of his determination and ambition.

Eric was a man of strong faith. He never hesitated to speak about his love for Jesus and was never ashamed to proclaim that Jesus was his Lord and Savior. He encouraged his children to always put God first and made prayer an important part of his relationships with them. It was not uncommon for Eric to pray with his children before ending a phone conversation. He was always willing to listen when someone wanted to talk about God, faith, or the Lord.

Those who knew Eric will also remember his quick wit, humor, straightforward personality, and remarkable way with words. He was incredibly smart, blunt in the most Eric-like way, and could turn even an ordinary conversation into a long and memorable one. He especially enjoyed his long phone conversations with his father, Walter, who lived out of town.

And then there was Eric’s famous sense of timing—or lack thereof.

Eric never rushed anything. He took his time getting ready, took his time arriving, and always made sure he looked his absolute best when he finally walked through the door. His family affectionately gave themselves the nickname “The Molasses Family” because of how long Eric could take to get somewhere. Although his lateness could sometimes make everyone laugh—or wait—those who loved him knew that was simply Eric being Eric.

Eric is survived by his parents, Walter Guerra Sr. and Magdalena “Maggie” Guerra; his siblings, George Guzman and his wife Diane, Walter Guerra Jr., and Wendy Guerra; his children, Kailyn Jennifer, Carissa Ines, Oscar Elijah, and Eric Micah Guerra Jr.; his grandchildren, Autumn, Everly, Arabella, Aralea, and Elijah; his devoted co-parent and longtime family partner, Carissa Marie; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved him deeply.

Eric was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Arabella, and his uncle, Eddie.

Eric leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, laughter, hard work, and devotion to his family. His greatest treasures were never things—they were his children and grandchildren. He wanted them to know how deeply he loved them, to put God first, to work hard, and to always remember where they came from.

He will be remembered for his big heart, his strong faith, his hilarious personality, his long conversations, his love of good food and cooking out, his passion for his family, his dedication to his work, and the countless ways he showed the people he loved that they mattered
