Ernest “Ernie” Morgan was called home into the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Ernest Malcom Morgan was born November 30, 1926 in Fort Worth, Texas to George and Maude Morgan. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Ft. Worth and began classes at Decatur Baptist College until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1944. He served in Germany until December 1946. Upon returning to Ft. Worth, Ernie went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, serving faithfully for ten years. Shortly after returning from the war, Ernie saw a portrait of the beautiful Polly Watkins and fell in love at first sight. They soon met and were married in September of 1947. They were happily married for 68 wonderful years and had three children. Ernie loved his Savior and served as a faithful church member, volunteer and staff minister. He served as a Youth Minister at Polytechnic Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Minister of Education at Rosen Heights Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Education Director at First Baptist Church in Phillips, TX and Music Director at Worth Baptist Church in Ft. Worth. In 1972, Ernie pursued a career in business, and remained a faithful member, deacon and leader in church for the remainder of his life. Ernie made life fun. He’d grab a harmonica and recruit a crowd to join him in hymns. He’d share hours of old slides with a captive audience. He was always up for a game of cards, dominoes or ping pong – and somehow always won. He welcomed friends and strangers alike to enjoy the beauty of the lake. He’d grab his fishing hat, tie up a wagon train to the tractor and pull kids around for hours. The lake is known to countless friends and family as a gathering place for fellowship, rest and celebration and will always remind us of him. He is survived by his loving wife Polly, his children Paul E. Morgan and wife Eve, Melanie E. Morgan Patterson and husband Cliff and David A. Morgan and wife Lindy, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-“grands.” Celebration Service: Saturday, February 13th 4:30pm, Fielder Church, 2011 S. Fielder Rd., Arlington. Visitation: Friday, February 12th 6-8pm, Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Rd., Ft. Worth. Private burial.
